Blackstone Group LP, the world’s largest private equity property investor, is considering tapping individual investors as it expands into owning high-quality buildings with steady income streams, according to a recent Bloomberg article.

“The prospects for growth in that business are huge,” Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Steve Schwarzman said on the company’s first-quarter earnings conference call in April, according to Bloomberg. “At some point as we move into the retail chain of distribution with this, we should be able to create a really very large-scale business.” Blackstone’s pursuit of a “core-plus strategy” mirrors Origin Investment’s own focus on buying high-quality properties in fast-growing markets and building their value through improvements to the facilities and leasing arrangements.
