Working with Custodians
Custodians often have unique processes for managing alternative investments, so we recommend contacting a representative at your current custodian for guidance. If you are investing with us through a custodial account, this article will answer some of the most frequently asked questions.
How do I subscribe to a fund through a custodial account?
Subscribing to one of our funds with a custodian is the standard process with a few extra steps:
- Add the custodian’s information under the ‘Custodian (if Applicable)’ section of the questionnaire, including the custodian’s name and your custodian account number.
- After your subscription has been completed and confirmed by Origin, you will need to submit the subscription documents and the capital call information from us to your custodian for their review and approval. Your custodian may require additional forms, such as a Letter of Instruction or an Alternative Investment transactions request form, to complete the process.
- The custodian must fund on your behalf, as that is how they register your investment is custodied with them and reflect your investment on their platform.
When will my custodian’s portal reflect the latest distribution from the fund?
In general, custodians should reflect our distributions in their portal within a month of receipt. However, for the most up-to-date information regarding your investment with us, we recommend viewing our Investor Portal.
How do I change custodians?
Origin will need an assignment of interest form completed by you and executed by your new custodian for us to process the change in our system. To initiate this process with us, please reach out to investorservices@origininvestments.com, and they will have the form sent to you via DocuSign.
Who should my custodian contact if they need additional information from Origin?
Please have your custodian reach out to custodians@origininvestments.com with any questions.
