David Scherer co-founded Origin Investments in 2007, a top decile fund manager with expertise in building, buying, and operating institutional-class multifamily real estate across the country.

With Dave’s leadership, Origin has executed more than $2.6 billion in real estate transactions. David is co-CEO, co-chairs the investment committee and oversees acquisitions and asset management. Prior to Origin, David served as company president for a privately financed hedge fund.

David earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his MBA from the University of Chicago. He has more than 30 years of experience in real estate investing, finance and asset management.

In 2007, Michael Episcope co-founded Origin Investments, a top-decile fund manager that helps high-net-worth investors, family offices and registered investment advisors grow and preserve wealth by providing best-in-class real estate solutions.

With Michael’s leadership, Origin has $1 billion in equity under management and has executed more than $2.6 billion in real estate transactions in fast-growing markets throughout the U.S. He is co-CEO, co-chairs the investment committee and oversees investor relations and capital raising. Prior to Origin, Michael had a prolific trading career and twice was named one of the top 100 traders in the world by Trader Monthly Magazine.

Michael earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees from DePaul University. He has more than 30 years of investment and risk management experience and has been an integral contributor to Origin’s innovative practices and investment success.

Michael serves as Origin Investments’ in-house general counsel.

Prior to joining Origin Investments, Michael was the Vice President and Senior Associate General Counsel at General Growth Properties, a $3 billion publicly-traded REIT. Earlier in his career, he worked the Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary at APAC Customer Services. Michael also worked at Corporate Express as their Assistant General Counsel.

He received his Bachelor degree in Chemistry from Hope College and his JD from Valparaiso University School of Law. Michael is admitted to the Illinois Bar and the Northern District of Illinois. He is an accomplished French horn player, contemporary art collector and competitive recreational cyclist. Michael and his husband have been residents of the city of Chicago for over twenty-five years.

Dave Welk is responsible for overseeing investment acquisitions and collaborating with the investment committee to shape the firm’s investment strategy.

Since 2003, Dave has been involved with the sourcing, closing and execution of more than $1.9 billion of commercial real estate acquisitions, dispositions and development projects. Dave joined Origin in 2011, and, over that time, has completed over $1.1 billion of direct and joint-venture investments comprising of a host of physical and operational repositioning strategies and ground-up development of multifamily and office assets throughout Chicago and the Southeastern U.S.

Prior to joining Origin Investments, Dave spent six years at Deutsche Bank’s global commercial real estate investment and advisory division known as RREEF. During his tenure, he was involved with the acquisition of more than $500 million of multifamily, office, industrial and retail assets throughout the U.S. on behalf of the firm’s pension fund clients. Additionally, Dave was a member of the Portfolio Management group that oversaw the investment management and strategic direction for two separate account pension fund clients that had a combined asset value of more than $2 billion and comprised over 10 million square feet of multifamily, office, retail and industrial assets throughout the U.S.

Dave received a bachelor of business administration in finance from the University of Iowa and a master of science in real estate from DePaul University’s Kellstadt Graduate School of Business.

Marc has 27 years of experience in asset management, acquisition, disposition, underwriting and valuation, leasing, debt structuring, risk management and due diligence for both public and private real estate investments. As Managing Director of Investment Management at Origin, Marc is accountable for the performance of Fund investments and execution of property-level business plans.

Before joining Origin Investments in 2015, Marc served as Vice President of Asset Strategy at Lightstone, a New York investment firm with $2 billion of assets under management. Prior to Lightstone, he performed as a trusted advisor to the HSBC Amanah Global Properties Income Fund ("GPIF"). As Head of Asset Management for the U.S. portfolio, he held responsibility for the investment performance of a 36-building national office, R&D, and industrial portfolio containing 7 million square feet. Earlier in his career, Marc directed various acquisition and asset management roles at Equity Office Properties Trust, previously the nation's largest publicly traded office building owner and REIT. During his decade long tenure at Equity Office, Marc performed underwriting and valuation analysis on corporate acquisitions with a total value in excess of $15 billion and developed and executed investment strategy for assets with an aggregate value over $2 billion.

Marc holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. Marc lives with his wife Carey and two daughters, Rachel and Hailey, in a north suburb of Chicago.

Tom is responsible for sourcing multifamily credit investments on behalf of our affiliate firm, Origin Credit Advisers, LLC, an SEC-registered investment adviser. Before his current role, he served as Managing Director of Acquisitions, and prior, as Vice President of Asset Management for Origin Investments, overseeing the firm’s real estate portfolio assets. Tom has worked with the Origin team since early 2011 and has eighteen years of experience in the commercial real estate sector.

Prior to joining Origin Investments, he underwrote and transacted commercial real estate investments at Equity Office Properties. Before Equity Office Properties, Tom worked as a commercial credit analyst at JP Morgan Chase.

He received his Bachelor's degree in Finance from The University of Connecticut. Tom currently resides in Denver with his wife and children, is a cyclist, skier and loves to travel.

Priya is the controller of Origin Investments and joined the team in June 2009.  She has over 12 years of accounting and financial experience in commercial real estate with a portfolio of assets totaling over $900 million. In her current role, Priya oversees Origin’s fund and corporate-level financial operations, executes year-end audits, interfaces with the tax team, tracks corporate performance, and manages reporting requirements of lenders, general partners and other stakeholders.

Prior to joining Origin, Priya was the controller of a privately financed real estate development company where she managed a team of accountants, and was responsible for building and managing accounting systems, internal controls and overseeing the financial reporting and operations of the firm.

Priya is a licensed CPA, Certified Internal Auditor and a Chartered Accountant. She lives with her husband and son in Hinsdale. Intrigued by countries and cultures, she enjoys traveling, live music and spending time with friends.

Melissa leads a team focused on growing our high-net-worth investor base through various marketing efforts. She joined Origin in early 2017 after spending nearly a decade at Morningstar, Inc., a leading provider of independent investment research. At Morningstar, Melissa set the marketing communications strategy to drive demand for an extensive line of products for financial advisors, including software, events and investment management services. Her career at Morningstar began as a marketing associate for the company’s most widely-used financial advisor software system and, prior to that, she worked in marketing at Merrill Lynch Capital.

Melissa received a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Strategic Communications from the University of Kansas and a Master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University. She is a life-long resident of Chicago and lives with her husband, daughter, and dog in Forest Glen. She is an avid reader, traveler and concert-goer.

Kyle Verhasselt is responsible for sourcing, structuring and execution of new acquisitions and relationships across the Nashville and Central Florida markets. As a market officer, he has sourced and closed approximately 6,000 multifamily deals with a total value of more than $1.7 billion and $400 million in equity.

He joined Origin’s investment management team in 2015 where he oversaw the execution and strategy of the firm’s assets as well as assisting on all new deal underwriting, structuring and closing on both direct and joint venture opportunities. Prior to joining Origin, he completed the risk management leadership program at GE Capital.

Kyle received a bachelor of business administration with a major in real estate and urban land economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Kyle lives in The Nations neighborhood of Nashville with his wife where they enjoy hiking, traveling, checking out new restaurants, golf, and cheering on Wisconsin and Nashville sports.

Kate Khazin leads investor services and is responsible for scaling internal processes to fuel Origin’s explosive growth. Kate joined Origin in 2021 after a tenure at Ventas, a S&P 500 company and a leading healthcare REIT. At Ventas Kate was responsible for business transformation and M&A integration and was a key player in the divestiture of Care Capital Partners as a standalone publicly-traded REIT in 2015. While at Ventas she led the transformation and scaling of FP&A, corporate risk, legal, accounting, treasury, and property management functions. Prior to Ventas, Kate served as a manager of the LEAN consulting group at Discover Financial Services. In this role she led cross-functional project teams responsible for reorganization of legacy business functions within the firm.

Kate's true passion (outside of work) is investing and advising early-stage startups. Kate is a mentor at the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship, a startup incubator at the University of Chicago, and serves on the board of BANC, a University of Chicago Booth School of Business nonprofit consulting organization.

Kate earned her B.S. degree with honors in Electrical Engineering from Izhevsk Technical State University in Russia, and received her MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Vince joined Origin in 2017 and he leads Origin’s fundraising and investor relations department. Vince’s responsibilities include expanding the firm’s investor base and serving the needs of our Registered Investment Advisor and high-net worth individual investors.

Prior to joining Origin, Vince worked at Duff & Phelps where he conducted business enterprise and intellectual property valuations for use in the corporate acquisition process. He earned a Masters of Science Degree in Finance from Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Kent State University.

Aaron is responsible for driving performance in the company’s multifamily portfolio. He oversees the strategy and execution of property-level business plans.

Before Origin Investments, Aaron worked at Steadfast Management Company, an owner and investor in over 40k units nationwide. There he led operations with his 11-years of experience in leasing & marketing, value-add construction management, property management technology, and training. In this assignment, he was able to capitalize on investments made in three REITs and ensure beneficial results. Prior to that, he managed an owner-operated portfolio concentrated in Atlanta (Avila Real Estate), and a vertically integrated firm sponsoring multifamily focused investment funds in the Southeast, mid-Atlantic, and Northwest regions (Merion Realty Partners).

Aaron studied Political Science and Economics at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He is a member of the Atlanta Apartment Association, a Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor, and Certified Apartment Manager. Aaron lives with his wife and daughter in Alpharetta, GA. He is an avid outdoor hobbyist and ultramarathon runner.

Kevin is responsible for driving performance of the company’s multifamily development projects & partners. Prior to joining Origin Investments, Kevin worked at Stony Point Development Group, a developer and investor focused on direct developments, limited partner investments and core acquisitions in Virginia and the Carolinas. At Stony Point, Kevin grew to lead the day-to-day management of the firm and was responsible for the entire life cycle of the firm’s investments & developments. Prior to Stony Point, Kevin worked at KETTLER, a leading investor, developer and property manager based in Virginia. Kevin was a member of the development & acquisitions teams focused on large multifamily driven mixed-use developments in the Washington, DC area. Lastly, Kevin began his career working for Clark Construction as a project engineer in the Washington D.C. metro area.

Kevin received his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech, and an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute. Kevin resides in Charlottesville, VA, where he enjoys golf, traveling, and cheering on DC sports.

Bill has 20 years of experience in all facets of multifamily development and construction totaling over four thousand units and $1.5 billion in project costs.  Bill is responsible for the performance of Origin’s multifamily projects and leads due diligence and pre-construction efforts.  
 
Prior to joining Origin, Bill orchestrated due diligence, entitlements, pre-construction, self-perform construction, and owner’s representative duties at Core Spaces and Gables Residential.  Bill’s experience includes a variety of product types, such as high-density wood frame and high-rise concrete products in markets throughout the country, such as Boston, Southern California, South Florida, the Mid-Atlantic, and the Midwest.
 
Bill received a Master of Architecture degree and an MBA from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He and his wife reside in Northern Illinois with their three children, spending time watching their kids’ sports and walking the family’s Chesapeake Bay Retriever. 

Chris is responsible for the development oversight, lease-up execution, and operational and financial performance of the firm’s multifamily properties across Nashville and the state of Texas.

Prior to joining Origin Investments in 2017, Chris served in various roles with NorthMarq Capital’s loan production and loan servicing offices located in Chicago and Minneapolis.

Chris lives in the 12South neighborhood of Nashville and is on the YP Board of Rebuilding Together Nashville, a local nonprofit that restores and provides critical repairs to homes of low-income residents. He enjoys keeping up with the local music scene and cheering on Minnesota sports.

Isabela is an assistant vice president in the Investor Relations department who is responsible for ensuring that our current investors are up to date with their investments and educating our future partners about Origin’s offerings.

Isabela was formerly a Senior Financial Analyst with Pritzker Realty Group where she was responsible for providing underwriting support and market research in relation to PRG's acquisition, disposition, financing and asset management activities. Prior to joining PRG, she served as Financial Analyst for DBRS, a credit rating agency for commercial mortgage-backed securities, from 2015-2017. There she assisted in the evaluation of underlying commercial real estate loans within rated transactions, conducted site inspections of all major property types and composed Presale Reports distributed to investors.

She graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Real Estate and Finance and was a member of the Marquette Women's Soccer Team. Isabela still enjoys playing soccer and staying active as well as volunteering, reading and traveling. She is on the Young Adult Board for Horizons for Youth, a Chicago non-profit, and is a member of CREW's Network Liaison Committee.

Phil is responsible for sourcing, structuring and executing new acquisitions across Texas, as well as overseeing the strategy and implementation of Origin Multilytics℠, the firm's proprietary machine learning and AI platform. Most recently, he served as an acquisitions senior associate, overseeing underwriting and due diligence, where he closed more than $500 million of multifamily and office assets. Prior to joining the Origin team, Phil began his career as a development associate at General Growth Properties.

Phil received a bachelor of science degree with a major in finance from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Originally from Ohio, he lives in the Knox Henderson neighborhood of Dallas. Phil loves to travel, participate in sports leagues and cheer on the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals.

Jonathan is an Assistant Vice President of Investor Relations at Origin Investments where he is responsible for fundraising and business development activities associated with the firm’s Private Real Estate offerings. Jonathan’s responsibilities include expanding the firm’s investor base and serving the needs of our Registered Investment Advisor and high-net individual investors. Prior to joining Origin in 2020, Jonathan worked at Lakeside Bank where he provided financing solutions for commercial real estate projects throughout Chicago. He earned an MBA with a concentration in Real Estate Finance & Investment from DePaul University and Bachelor of Science with a degree in Finance from The University of Central Florida.

Bill is on the marketing team, where he leads marketing strategy and produces creative assets for marketing campaigns including blog graphics, email templates, landing pages, and other branded materials.

Before joining Origin in the Fall of 2018, Bill worked as an independent graphic designer. His clients included agencies, startups, non-profit organizations in the arts, higher education, healthcare, social welfare, as well as entrepreneurial individuals.

Bill’s design practice emerged out of a fine arts background. He was formally trained as a multi-disciplinary artist with an emphasis on conceptual thinking at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Bill received his BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in partnership with Tufts University (SMFA at Tufts).

Bill lives in Andersonville. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, listening to music, and traveling.

Suyen Fernandez is part of the Investor Relations team at Origin Investments where she is responsible for capital raising and maintaining relationships with Registered Investment Advisors and Institutional clients.

Prior to joining Origin, Suyen spent 8 years at BlackRock as a Vice President on the Portfolio Management team covering Residential Credit. She received her BBA degree in Finance and Management from Florida International University.

Elena serves as Origin Investments’ assistant general counsel.

Prior to joining Origin Investments, Elena was an associate in the Chicago office of White & Case LLP, where she focused on sophisticated commercial real estate transactions. During her time at White & Case, she represented institutional capital sources and developers in connection with acquisitions, dispositions, financings, leasing, and development of various classes of real property, including multifamily, office, retail, hotels, senior housing, mixed-use projects, and vacant land.

She received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Southern California and her JD from the Northwestern University School of Law.

Originally from Portland, Oregon, Elena now lives in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and playing tennis.

Ken joined Origin in 2018 as an Associate on the Investment Management team. In his current role, Ken is responsible for the execution of asset-level strategies and business plans and oversight of development projects from the time of acquisition throughout the deal lifecycle to disposition.

Ken began his career in commercial lending as a credit analyst for MB Financial Bank in Chicago. While there, he completed the bank’s Leadership Development Program and was promoted to commercial banking officer, responsible for the development of new business relationships and the management of credit risk within a roughly $100 million loan portfolio consisting of both revolving industrial debt and real estate term facilities. Following his time at MB and prior to joining Origin, Ken worked as a project manager for Landmark Building Group. In that role, he was responsible for budgeting, scheduling, and executing the construction of custom-built single-family homes in Chicago’s suburbs.

Ken received a Bachelor of Science in Finance and International Business from Indiana University (Bloomington) and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Real Estate Finance and Investments from DePaul University. He is an active member of the Real Estate Investment Association as well as the Urban Land Institute. Born and raised in Chicago, Ken enjoys traveling, cooking, and cheering on the Cubs, Bears, and Indiana Hoosiers.

Jacob is responsible for sourcing, structuring, and execution of new acquisitions, developments, and relationships across Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Nevada.
 
Prior to joining the Origin team, Jacob worked at KPMG as a Real Estate EVS Senior Associate where he performed over $15.0 B in property and portfolio level valuations across all asset classes.
 
He received a Bachelor of Business Administration with majors in Real Estate & Urban Land Economics and Finance, Investment & Banking from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Jacob lives in the Lower Highlands neighborhood of Denver and loves cheering on the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers.

Katina is a Senior Associate on the Investor Relations team.

Prior to joining Origin Investments, Katina worked as an analyst at Equity Lifestyle Properties (ELS) where she focused on underwriting RV & MH developments and capital improvement opportunities. Before ELS, she worked at Lilis Energy in Dallas, Texas, as an analyst cross-specializing in investor relations and transaction work.

Katina graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics in 2018. She lives in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago and in her spare time enjoys cooking, Pilates, and teaching youth dance classes.

Geoff joined Origin in the spring of 2021 after spending two years at Centro, an advertising technology firm headquartered in Chicago. At Centro, Geoff focused on personalizing the company’s messaging strategies and expediting adoption of their proprietary software – a comprehensive solution for both brands and agencies. Prior to Centro, Geoff spent over a decade in marketing for higher education institutions, non-profits, and startups.

Geoff holds a Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Sociology and English from College of the Holy Cross and a Master’s degree in Strategic Marketing and Communications from DePaul University. A life-long Chicagoan, Geoff enjoys music, traveling, learning new skills, and spending time with his wife and son.

Tommy is an Associate on the Investor Relations team whose responsibilities include serving the needs of our individual investment partners both before and after the investment process.

Prior to joining Origin Investments, Tommy worked as a Private Capital Manager at Metropolitan Capital where he was responsible for managing existing client relationships and underwriting new credit facilities within the organization’s commercial banking team. Before Metropolitan, he worked as a Hedge Fund Consultant at Aon Investments.

Tommy graduated from Northwestern University in 2018 with a Bachelor Communications and Business Institutions. At Northwestern, Tommy played on the baseball team and was a member of the Leadership Council Institute. He currently resides in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago and in his spare time enjoys golfing, skiing, and spending time at the lake in the summer.

Jonathan joined the Origin team in early 2021. He brings with him over 7+ years of digital marketing experience in both B2B and B2C marketing. Before joining Origin, he was the Digital Marketing Manager at Evolve Healthcare Marketing, which partnered with the nation’s leading private equity-backed healthcare businesses. At Evolve, he led the strategy, execution, and analysis of multi-channel, lead-generating campaigns for more than 30 clients across specialties.

Prior to Evolve, he was the Marketing Specialist at Cappex.com, which connects high school students to colleges and universities. There he coordinated, deployed, and measured lead-generating campaigns and promotions that led to YoY growth in core markets.

Jonathan is a Posse Scholar and received his Bachelor’s degree with a major in Media Studies from Pomona College in Claremont, California. He is a lifelong resident of Chicago and lives with his dog in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. He is a runner, frequent traveler, amateur tennis player, and beach/pool enthusiast.

Originally from China, Grace came to the U.S. in 2011 to pursue a Master of Science in Accounting degree, which she received in 2013 from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Previously she studied accounting as a undergrad at Capital University of Economic and Business in China.

After graduating from UIC, Grace worked as a staff accountant at the food industry consulting firm Technomic, Inc. (now part of Winsight), in downtown Chicago. Two years later, she took a role as a Property Accountant at SLM Realty, LLC., where she was first exposed to the real estate industry. Then in April 2016, she joined the Origin family.

Grace enjoys cooking, singing, painting and traveling. During the summer, Grace enjoys biking along Lakeshore Drive and makes the most of the big city by exploring new places, museums, parks, restaurants and festivals. During the unpredictable Chicago winters, she tries to stay active and has found skiing and skating in the park to be her favorite wintertime activities.

Christopher Joined Origin in September of 2022 as a Senior Accounting Associate.

Before Joining Origin, Christopher previously worked at Northern Trust and AlterDomus. He was responsible for evaluating, analyzing, and reconciling mutual funds, separately managed funds, and Real Estate funds to determine the Net Asset Value daily and to produce client month-end reports.

He Graduated DePaul University with a Bachelors of Science in Accountancy. Christopher enjoys playing basketball, board games and video games. Since moving here in 2003, He has taken the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of food and activities that the city has to offer.

Prior to joining Origin Investments, Garrett worked as a Senior Associate for AlterDomus, one of the globe’s largest fund administrators for alternative investments. At AlterDomus, Garrett provided portfolio administration and cash management services for several credit fund portfolios.

Garrett received a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Economics from Indiana University. Garrett moved to Chicago 2 years ago and lives in the Lakeview community. In his free time, he enjoys spending time at the lakefront, trying new foods, and traveling.

Cody is a Senior Accounting Associate here at Origin Investments.

Cody previously worked as an accountant for the Pritzker Family Office where he was responsible for managing the accounting duties for a number of different investment entities.

He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Michigan State University and a dual Master of Science in Accounting and Master of Business Administration Degree from Loyola University Chicago. He was an Evans Scholar recipient at Michigan State University and is still active in the community, being a part of the alumni leadership council and alumni mentorship programs. Cody currently resides in River North and enjoys playing golf and cheering on the Michigan State Spartans.

Regina joined the firm in late 2021 as an Accounting Associate.

Prior to Origin, Regina was a Senior Treasury associate for 5+ years at Straits Financial, a Futures Commissions Merchant, based out of Chicago. She was responsible for reporting segregated funds to the CME, managing account holders funds, & overseeing accounts payable for the organization. Preceding her most recent experience she was in the Mortgage Servicing Industry at Fay Servicing, Energy Monitoring & Consulting at Mad Dash, Inc.

Regina received her Bachelors in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She currently resides on the near North side of Chicago, and in her free time she enjoys dropping into the occasional yoga class and lifting weights.

Preston joined Origin Investments in June of 2021. He is responsible for the underwriting, due diligence and closing of prospective commercial real estate investments across all of our target markets. Prior to joining Origin, Preston was an Analyst with Rialto Capital. He was involved in the underwriting, assessment, management and liquidation of commercial real estate and recommendation of resolution strategies for non-performing loans. Preston received a Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He loves cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers and is passionate about all things automotive.

Gina serves as a senior investor services support specialist.

Prior to joining Origin, Gina worked for some of the leading luxury hotel brands, including the Peninsula Chicago and Fairmont Grand Del Mar, San Diego. In her roles, Gina specialized in Front Office operations where she was responsible for managing guest feedback and supporting the team to deliver personalized service from arrival to departure.

Gina graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelor of Science in Business with a major in Hospitality Leadership. She enjoys hiking, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, and spending time with family and friends.

Collin grew up in Lake Forest, IL which is a northern suburb of Chicago; he joins our Investment Management team as an Analyst. In 2018 he graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Commercial Real Estate. Upon graduating from Marquette he then took a job at CIBC Bank in Chicago on the Corporate Real Estate team. Currently, he is pursuing a Masters in Real Estate from DePaul's Kellstadt Graduate School of Business, and will be graduating in the Fall of 2022.

Some things he enjoys in his spare time are playing golf, spending time outdoors, skiing in the winter and heading to the lake in the summertime, as well as, cheering on Marquette’s basketball team.

Barbara is the content strategist in Origin’s marketing department. Her responsibilities include producing and publishing a broad range of content to inform and educate Origin's investor community.

Prior to joining Origin, Barbara was the managing editor of HOTELS, a Chicago-based publication covering the global hotel business. She managed daily web and monthly print publishing schedules, oversaw operations and interviewed owners and operators around the world. Earlier positions include opinions editor and copy chief at Crain's Chicago Business, and global director of public websites at Arthur Andersen. Barbara received a bachelor's degree in journalism at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She lives in the Lincoln Square neighborhood of Chicago and enjoys travel, container gardening and all kinds of art.

Victoria joined the firm in late 2021 and serves as an investor services investor analytics and compliance.

Prior to Origin, Victoria worked at US Bank within the Wealth Management Division as a Portfolio Administrator II. In her role as part of the Trustee department, she provided cash reconciliation and portfolio services on a variety of corporate debt securities for clients.

Victoria graduated from St. Olaf College where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with an emphasis in Finance. In her free time, she enjoys cycling, playing sports and any other outdoor activity.

Spencer is responsible for underwriting prospective commercial real estate investments across all of our target markets. Prior to joining Origin, Spencer began his career as an Analyst at Blue Vista Capital Management. He was responsible for underwriting and supporting all aspects of the acquisition process.
 
Spencer received a Bachelor of Science in Business majoring in Finance and Real Estate from Indiana University. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, playing hockey, and making music. 

Tijana joined our team as an Investment Management Analyst. In her role, Tijana is responsible for analyzing asset performance, evaluating competitive market conditions, and collaborating with the acquisitions team on the underwriting and due diligence efforts during for the new multifamily investment opportunities.

Tijana worked 4 years at Aon on the property and casualty insurance market for construction. While there, she was responsible for analyzing insurance risks across the different lines of business, such as Builders’ Risk, Commercial General Liability and Auto insurance for several owners, general contractors, and subcontractors. Tijana also has experience as a residential sales broker where she was able to help several first-time homebuyers and investors.

Tijana received a Bachelor of Arts in Data Science and Global Business from Mount Holyoke College and is a licensed sales Broker in Illinois. In her free time, Tijana enjoys to workout, read books, and spent time with her family and friends.

Jimmy serves as an accounting associate here at Origin Investments. Jimmy is responsible for managing and coding employee expense reimbursements, vendor invoices, preparing corresponding ACHs and tracking monthly timesheets of team members for allocation to various Origin funds. He previously worked at Mark Anthony Brewing where he was responsible for leading the accounts payable process for over 50 vendors relating to co-packers, raw materials and packaging for Mike’s Hard and White Claw. 
 
Jimmy received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business from the University at Buffalo. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, traveling and spending time with his friends and family.

Ivette serves as a Paralegal here at Origin Investments.

Prior to joining the Origin team in late 2021, she worked as a Real Estate Paralegal at the Segel Law Group, Inc. There is where she assisted in all real estate transactions including Residential, Commercial, and Real Estate Bank Owned properties. Within her 5+ years of real estate paralegal experience, she assisted in maintaining communication with all parties involved within the transaction, contract negotiations, draft closing documents, clear title, prepare leases, complete any municipality and obtain necessary permits.

Ivette received her Bachelor Degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration in 2015 and obtained her Paralegal Certificate from an ABA Approved Program at the College of Lake County in 2021. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews, working out, trying new restaurants, and taking Latin Ballroom lessons.

Jennifer serves as Office Manager and Executive Assistant to the Co-CEO’s Michael and David. At Origin, she is responsible for running our office smoothly and daily administrative duties that include managing calendar appointments, completing expense reports and arranging travel plans, itineraries and agendas.

Prior to joining the Origin team in November of 2021, she worked as a Real Estate Executive Assistant/Office Manager at Realty Of Chicago. There she assisted in all real estate transactions, including Residential and Commercial properties. Within her years of real estate Executive assistant experience, she helped maintain communication with all parties.

Jennifer went to Bradley University in Peoria, IL. Jennifer is a huge Disney enthusiast. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and trying new restaurants.

Ryan serves as a Data Scientist here at Origin Investments. His responsibilities include forecasting rent growth, automating ETL processes, and creating analytical models for the needs of our team.

Prior to joining Origin full-time, Ryan was a Data Scientist intern. He worked closely with the Acquisitions team to build the foundation of Origin Multilytics. He was able to leverage data mining and machine learning techniques to build statistical models for internal use.

Ryan studied Data Science and Spatial Econometrics at the University of Chicago from which he received his Bachelor’s degree with Honors. Currently, he is pursuing a Master’s in Information and Data Science at the University of California, Berkeley. In his free time, Ryan enjoys traveling, running and cooking.

Michelle serves as a Graphic Designer here at Origin Investments. Michelle works directly with marketing and business development team members to produce a wide range of digital and print designs. The materials created by Michelle are essential to acquiring, nurturing, and converting leads, as well as engaging and retaining existing investors.

Before joining Origin in 2022, Michelle previously worked at Sovereign Brands, a wine & spirits company. She was responsible for leading the graphics department with a team of 7, creating all marketing collaterals and unique packaging designs for products including sparkling wine, gin, rum, cognac, and tequila.

She enjoys creating bold, minimal styles by focusing her layout skills using typography and grids. She strives to discover the finest solutions to all design problems. Being a graphic designer isn’t just a job for her; it’s a vocation.

She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Michelle is a gamer and enjoys spending her free time playing online video games. She also likes to watch Netflix and going out to eat sushi.

Dan joined the team at Origin in 2022 as an Investor Support Specialist.

Dan graduated in 2019 from North Central College in Naperville with a Bachelor of the Arts with a major in Finance. Soon after graduating, he worked in the Transfers department at Millennium Trust. In that role, Dan facilitated the internal and external movements of custodial accounts to other IRA custodians.

In his free time, Dan enjoys exploring the many bars and restaurants in Chicago. He also enjoys performing sketch and improv comedy at the Second City.

Daniel is responsible for fund level accounting and monthly reconciliations across all funds.

Prior to Origin, Daniel worked as an auditor at Grant Thornton, working on clients in the auto and medical manufacturing field space. He was awarded the MSU Evan’s scholarship for an outstanding caddie record and academic excellence; Graduating from Michigan State in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science and minor in international business. Finishing his Master of Accountancy (Also from MSU) in 2020. He remains active in the community and alumni Programs for both MSU and the Evan’s Scholarship House.

Dan currently lives in Uptown, enjoys golf, and cheering for the Detroit Lions!

Steve is an Investor Relations Associate whose responsibilities include expanding the firm’s investor base and serving the needs of our high-net worth individual investors.

Prior to joining Origin Investments, Steve was an Analyst at Link Logistics, where he was responsible for assisting in the leasing and asset management of industrial buildings throughout the Midwest. Before Link, he worked as an Analyst on the Capital Markets Research team at JLL.

Steve graduated from the University of Iowa in 2020, where he studied Business Administration, Economics, and International Relations. He currently resides in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago and enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with family & friends.

Maria serves as a marketing associate at Origin, working with and supporting all marketing channel owners. She is instrumental in executing marketing campaigns to drive new investors for our private real estate funds. 

Prior to joining the Origin team in December 2022, she worked as a content marketing coordinator at EveryDose, a niche startup centered on medication adherence. She was responsible for planning, creating and distributing content, including email marketing, writing articles for the EveryDose blog, and managing the company's social media presence.

Maria graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 2021, receiving her bachelor of science in psychology and a minor in sociology. She is an analytical, creative and strategic thinker who views marketing as the psychology of business. Maria lives in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago and enjoys travel, reading and hot yoga.

Brooklyn is a senior web developer in the marketing department. She is responsible for maintaining and developing high-quality web products to help achieve marketing goals.

Before joining Origin Investment, she worked as a full-stack developer at Cardinal Financial, a mortgage company. Her main responsibility was supporting all customer-facing websites and the intranet. Prior to Cardinal Financial, she served as a web developer at Glantz Design, a digital agency. In this role, she developed and maintained websites for clients from different industries.

Brooklyn is a self-starter and dedicated learner. She moved to the Chicago area from Beijing in 2012. She lives with her husband, son, and dog in Roscoe Village. When she is not working, she loves gardening, listening to music, and biking in the city.

Jacob joined Origin’s investment management team and is responsible for development execution and enhancement of deal-level investment performance throughout the project’s life cycle.

Prior to joining Origin, Jacob worked at Lincoln Property Co. as a development analyst, where he contributed to the sourcing, underwriting and management of institutional-grade developments and acquisition opportunities of luxury multifamily communities.

Jacob received a bachelor of science in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was born and raised in Chicago’s northern suburbs and lives in the city’s River North neighborhood, where he enjoys spending time outdoors and cheering on Chicago and Fighting Illini sports.

Jaimie is part of the investor relations team, where she is responsible for capital raising and maintaining relationships with registered investment advisers and institutional clients.

Prior to joining Origin, Jaimie spent six years at Essex Realty Group Inc. as a director focused on the sale of multifamily and mixed-use investment real estate. She has been involved in the sale of over $425 million of investment property, including more than 2,500 apartments. Earlier, she was a director at Back Nine Apartment Investors, which provides intergenerational real estate solutions through the acquisition and operation of Class A multifamily real estate in stabilized and growth markets throughout the U.S.

Jaimie has been recognized by RE Journals as a CRE Future Leader and is an active member of the Real Estate Finance Forum, a Chicago-based professional organization for women involved in real estate finance, development and deal structure. She is also involved in Chicago's Real Estate Investment Association.

Jaimie graduated from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University in Bloomington with a bachelor of science in business degree.

Jack joined Origin in early 2023 and serves as an investor services support specialist.

Prior to joining Origin, Jack worked at The Northern Trust Corp. within the asset servicing division as a senior pricing analyst. In this role, he validated pricing data for North and South American equity and fixed-income securities as well as performing month-end client reconciliations.

Jack graduated from the University of Iowa in 2020 with a bachelor of science in economics. He currently resides in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago and enjoys golfing, exploring the city’s neighborhoods, and cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Bears.

Kseniia, an investor services support specialist at Origin, previously worked at Stoiclane, a private holding company for finance, insurance and real estate businesses. As an accounting operations analyst, she provided operational support to clients by resolving requests related to payments and transactions.

Kseniia graduated from Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague with a bachelor of science in business and a master of science in economics and management. She enjoys traveling, skiing and spending time with family and friends.

Ross is an analyst on the acquisitions team and is responsible for underwriting prospective commercial real estate investments across all our target markets. Prior to joining Origin, Ross began his career as an analyst at Blue Vista Capital Management. He was responsible for underwriting and supporting all aspects of the acquisition process.

Ross received a bachelor of arts in economics and a master of science in finance from Vanderbilt University. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, skiing and spending time with family and friends.
